Woman hid several syringes and a bag of fentanyl inside her vaginal cavity

A Florida woman is facing multiple criminal charges after deputies allegedly discovered several syringes and a quantity of fentanyl hidden inside her body following a routine traffic stop.

According to records from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, 34-year-old Jessica Reno has been charged with offenses including smuggling a controlled substance into a detention facility and possession of fentanyl.

The incident began on June 15, when deputies initiated a traffic stop on Reno’s vehicle. The stop was prompted by two primary violations: a mismatched license plate and a visibly unsecured driver’s side seatbelt.

Law enforcement officials noted that the license plate displayed on Reno’s Chevrolet pickup truck was registered to a Ford vehicle, while the loose seatbelt was consistent with the driver not wearing it properly.

According to the arrest affidavit, after the deputy activated emergency lights and sirens, Reno’s vehicle braked intermittently but continued driving for about 30 seconds before coming to a stop, despite there being several safe and well-lit areas to pull over.

Upon approaching the vehicle, Reno informed the deputy that she had been on the phone with her daughter and did not stop immediately for that reason.

Further investigation revealed that Reno did not possess a valid driver’s license at the time of the stop. She told the deputy that her license had been suspended and that she had a pending court date related to the suspension.

Additionally, deputies determined that the vehicle’s registration was expired and that it lacked valid insurance coverage. When questioned about the mismatched plate, Reno claimed that her truck’s original license plate had “blown off” approximately six days earlier and that she had temporarily used a friend’s plate.

Following these findings, Reno was placed under arrest for the traffic-related violations. Before being transported to jail, a female deputy conducted a standard search incident to arrest.

Reno was informed that bringing contraband into the jail would lead to additional charges and was given an opportunity to disclose if she was concealing any prohibited items. Reno allegedly denied having any contraband on or inside her body.

However, during the booking process at the jail, deputies discovered a black sock concealed in Reno’s vaginal cavity. Inside the sock were six capped syringes and a bag containing a white powdery substance. When questioned, Reno initially claimed she had forgotten about the items.

She later admitted that fear of becoming ill prevented her from disclosing the presence of the drugs. Reno identified the substance as fentanyl and said she had purchased it earlier that day.

Field testing confirmed that the substance was fentanyl, with a total packaged weight of approximately 3 grams (2 grams unpackaged). Reno was subsequently charged with smuggling contraband into a detention facility, possession of fentanyl, possession of drug paraphernalia, and various driving-related offenses, including driving with a suspended license and operating an unregistered and uninsured vehicle with a fraudulent license plate.

Reno was booked into the Flagler County Jail and released on Thursday after posting $11,500 bond. The case remains under investigation.
