Scenes in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 Shock Fans to the 'Bones'

Marvel fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, which marks the end of James Gunn’s MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) trilogy. However, the film has stirred controversy amongst fans who have been questioning the age rating given to it due to its “disturbing” content.

The film has received a 12A age rating in the UK and a PG-13 rating in the US, which technically allows children to see the film in cinemas. However, some fans have taken issue with this rating claiming that it does not accurately reflect the disturbing and gory content of the movie.

Fans are divided over the age rating of the latest MCU film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, with some calling out its violent and dark content.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 delves deep into the backstory of Bradley Cooper’s character, Rocket Raccoon and the sinister High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji) who conducted experiments on him. This storyline is accompanied by several scenes of supernatural animal abuse that include CGI-rendered animals with disfiguring mutations and grotesque mechanical appendages.

Moreover, the film features a sequence where the Guardians visit the Orgosphere, an interstellar mass made entirely of fleshy organic matter. This scene has also been criticized by some viewers for its graphic and unsettling visuals.

Unsurprisingly, fans have taken to social media to express their opinions on the film’s rating. Many viewers have noted that the content of the film is not suitable for younger audiences and the rating should have been higher.

One viewer wrote on social media, “So Guardians of the Galaxy vol 3 definitely earned its PG-13 rating and I would advise caution if you’re planning on taking kids under 13. It is violent, dark and brutal. They definitely push the PG-13 rating as far as possible. Disturbing imagery and thematic elements.”

Similarly, another fan commented, “Won’t go into spoilers but there’s animal cruelty, tons of violence, gore and quite a lot of swearing for Disney/Marvel. Not for the very young or easily upset. Me and my 13 year old loved it.”

Despite the violent and disturbing content of the movie, some fans have still praised it. One person wrote, “Maybe it was just because James Gunn is leaving the MCU, but it really felt like Guardians Vol 3 really pushed the boat out as far as rating/gore. By far the most expletive and graphic MCU project so far.”
