Ohio woman who killed Cleveland State University professor ‘for nothing’ handed 23 years behind bars

A 32-year-old Ohio woman, Terreionna Paschal, has been sentenced to 23 years to life in prison for the murder of Cleveland State University professor 41-year-old Todd A. Morgan.

Paschal pleaded guilty to aggravated murder with a gun specification for the killing, which took place on April 19, 2023, the day they met after communicating on a mobile app. She will be eligible for parole after serving 23 years.

Morgan’s mother, Sandy Morgan, spoke during the sentencing, calling for the maximum penalty and expressing deep sorrow over the loss of her son. She highlighted how Paschal’s actions robbed her son’s two children of their father, stating, “He was brutally murdered by you, and he basically died for nothing.”

Paschal apologized to the family in court, expressing remorse for her actions and hoping for their eventual forgiveness.

The crime came to light when police conducted a welfare check at Morgan’s home after he failed to pick up his 4-year-old daughter from school.

Officers found Morgan shot in the head and torso. Shell casings were discovered at the scene, along with a bloody shoe print outside on the deck. Witnesses reported seeing a person with long, dark hair leaving the home, leading to Paschal’s identification and subsequent indictment.

Investigators used phone records, DNA and ballistics evidence to link Paschal to the crime. The two had only known each other for a short time, meeting in person for the first time the day of the murder.
