Mom who killed her 2 children with dog leash and staged the scene, is locked up for life
Lisa Snyder, 41, from Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to life in prison for the brutal killings of her two young children, using a dog leash to hang them from a beam in their basement in 2019.
The Berks County Court of Common Pleas Judge, M. Theresa Johnson, handed down two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole for the murders of Connor, 8, and Brinley Snyder, 4.
Snyder was also sentenced to an additional 8 1/2 to 17 years for charges related to child endangerment and tampering with evidence.
The disturbing case shocked the community in Kempton, Pennsylvania, where Snyder had tried to stage the deaths as murder-suicide. Following a seven-day bench trial in September, she was convicted on two counts of first-degree murder.
The evidence presented in court revealed Snyder’s calculated attempt to make it appear as though her son had hanged his sister and then taken his own life, but investigators found numerous contradictions to her claims.
The horrific crime occurred on September 23, 2019, when Snyder called 911 to report that she had found her children hanging from a beam in their Albany Township home.
When paramedics arrived, they discovered both children unconscious, hanging from a dog leash tied to the beam, with two overturned chairs nearby, seemingly placed to support Snyder’s fabricated story. The children were immediately airlifted to a hospital and placed on life support but tragically died three days later.
Throughout the investigation, Snyder claimed that her son, Connor, had been a victim of bullying and had expressed a desire to die by suicide. She further claimed that he did not want to die alone, insinuating that this was the reason he allegedly killed his sister before taking his own life.
However, this narrative was quickly dismantled by witnesses who testified that Connor had shown no signs of suicidal thoughts or depression and had always appeared happy and well adjusted.
A crucial piece of evidence was uncovered when Snyder’s internet search history revealed chilling searches about hanging methods, specifically conducted under her son’s Google profile.
Investigators found that Snyder had ordered the dog leash used in the murders just one day before the children’s deaths. She had also searched for information on carbon monoxide poisoning and watched episodes of the true crime show “I Almost Got Away With It,” further pointing to her premeditated intent.
Adding to the weight of the evidence, Snyder texted a friend just a week after the killings, stating that she needed “two strong drinks” and admitting that her arrest was inevitable.
The same friend testified in court that Snyder confessed to researching suicide methods using her son’s account, a stark contrast to her original claim of her son’s alleged desire to end his life.

In 2022, Snyder had tried to secure a plea deal, offering to plead no contest but mentally ill to third-degree murder charges, which would have lessened her sentence. However, the judge refused to accept this deal, given the overwhelming evidence of premeditation and intent to kill her children.
Snyder will now spend the rest of her life in a state correctional facility, with no chance of parole.
