Man tried to snatch 8-year-old girl away from her grandmother at a Safeway store twice

A Colorado man is facing serious charges after allegedly attempting to kidnap an 8-year-old girl from a grocery store — not once, but twice — while the child was shopping with her grandmother.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest of 34-year-old Bradley Mikel Wilson following the disturbing incident at a Safeway store in Littleton on Saturday.

According to the sheriff’s office, the incident unfolded in the store’s produce section. Wilson allegedly approached the girl and her grandmother, placed his hands on the child’s shoulders, and made an unusual and alarming request.

“May I borrow your child?” Wilson reportedly asked the grandmother. Authorities say he then tried to lead the girl away from the area.

The child’s grandmother reacted immediately, shouting for help. The young girl managed to break free from Wilson’s grasp and return to the safety of her grandmother. Witnesses observed Wilson exit the store at that point.

However, Wilson’s alleged attempt did not end there. Law enforcement reports that the suspect re-entered the store shortly afterward and tried again to abduct the girl.

This time, vigilant store employees intervened, confronting Wilson and chasing him from the premises before he could make contact with the child. Wilson fled the scene, entering his vehicle and driving away.

By the time sheriff’s deputies arrived at the store, Wilson had already left.

Deputies, however, quickly located and intercepted his vehicle on a nearby highway. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jefferson County Detention Facility. Wilson was booked on charges of second-degree kidnapping.

Authorities reported that neither the child nor her grandmother sustained any physical injuries during the frightening ordeal. Wilson remained in custody pending his initial court appearance, which was scheduled for Monday.

The sheriff’s office praised the swift action of the store’s employees and bystanders, whose intervention likely prevented further harm.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
