Man Tried to Murder His Wife in a Twisted Plot to Marry Her Daughter

In a chilling case from Indiana, 71-year-old Alfred W. Ruf has confessed to a shocking plot to poison his wife in a bid to pursue a lasting relationship with her daughter.

Authorities revealed that Ruf laced his wife’s Coca-Cola with a cocktail of cocaine, MDMA and benzodiazepines approximately a dozen times in late 2021 as part of a sinister scheme to eliminate her in order to marry her daughter.

Ruf admitted to executing this horrific plan at the urging of his stepdaughter and one of her friends, who allegedly supplied him with the drugs.

According to court documents, Ruf claimed his wife’s daughter wanted to “get mom out of the picture” to cash in on her life insurance policy, and she had promised to marry him after they “took care of” the wife.

Between September and December 2021, Ruf poisoned his wife’s drink multiple times, fully aware that the substances he used could eventually be lethal. Each time, his wife would be incapacitated for roughly 13 hours, allowing Ruf’s stepdaughter and her friend to visit their home while she was under the influence to have sex with him.

The plot unraveled when the wife, plagued by mysterious symptoms including severe headaches and extreme drowsiness, sought medical help. She was hospitalized six times within a few weeks, where doctors discovered the presence of drugs in her system that she had not taken.

This alarming revelation prompted her to contact the police in 2022, leading them to investigate further.

The investigation took a turn when she presented authorities with a Coke can containing an off-white residue, confirming her suspicions of foul play. Ruf was arrested shortly thereafter, although his stepdaughter and her friend have not yet faced any charges.

According to authorities, they are still investigating the accusations made by Ruf against his stepdaughter and her friend.
