How to Download Movies on Netflix – Latest Tips

This article will guide you on how to download movies from Netflix. Whether you’re preparing for a long flight, a road trip or just want to save on data usage, having movies downloaded on your device can be incredibly convenient.

Ensure You Have a Compatible Device

  1. Check Compatibility: Make sure your device supports Netflix downloads. Most modern smartphones, tablets and laptops support this feature. To download movies on Netflix, the Netflix app should be installed on your iOS, Android, or Windows 10 device.
  2. Update Netflix App: Ensure you have the latest version of the Netflix app. Go to the App Store (iOS), Google Play Store (Android), or Microsoft Store (Windows 10) to update the app if needed.

Sign In to Your Netflix Account

  1. Open the Netflix App: Launch the Netflix app on your device.
  2. Sign In: Enter your Netflix credentials to sign in. If you don’t have an account, you’ll need to sign up for one.

Find Movies to Download on Netflix App

  1. Browse or Search: Use the search bar to find a specific movie or browse through genres and categories to find something you like. Not all titles are available for download, but Netflix offers a wide selection.
  2. Look for the Download Icon: Titles available for download will have a downward-facing arrow icon next to them. You can also go to the “Available for Download” section to see all downloadable content.

Download the Movie

  1. Select the Movie: Tap on the movie you want to download to open its details page.
  2. Initiate the Download: Tap the download icon (downward-facing arrow) to start downloading the movie. You’ll see a progress indicator showing the download status.

Manage Download Settings

  1. Choose Video Quality: Go to the app’s settings by tapping on the three horizontal lines (menu icon) or your profile icon. Select “App Settings” or “Account” > “Download Video Quality.” Choose between Standard or High quality. High quality uses more storage space and data, but provides better video resolution.
  2. Smart Downloads: Enable “Smart Downloads” to automatically delete watched episodes and download the next one in a series. This feature helps manage storage space efficiently.
  3. Download Location (Android Only): If you have an Android device, you can choose to save downloads to an SD card instead of internal storage. Go to “App Settings” > “Download Location” and select your preferred storage option.

Watch Your Downloaded Movies

  1. Access Downloads: Tap on the “Downloads” tab at the bottom of the screen to see all your downloaded content.
  2. Play Offline: Tap on the movie you want to watch, and it will start playing even without an internet connection.

Manage Your Downloads

  1. Delete After Watching: Once you’ve finished watching a movie, you can delete it to free up space. Go to the “Downloads” tab, tap the pencil icon (edit), select the movies you want to delete, and tap the trash can icon.
  2. Renew Downloads: Some downloads have an expiration date, usually 48 hours after you start watching them. If a download expires, you can renew it by going back to the movie’s details page and tapping the download icon again.
