Girlfriend orchestrated a sinister plot with her boyfriend to have her mom murdered for seizing her phone

A 14-year-old girl and her 17-year-old boyfriend are being charged as adults by prosecutors in Michigan after they conspired to murder the girl’s mother because the mother had taken away the girl’s phone as punishment.

The incident occurred in Eastpointe, a suburb of Detroit, on July 14, when a woman was awakened around 4 a.m. by an unknown male in her home on Roxana Avenue.

The suspect picked up a pillow and attempted to suffocate the woman before jumping on top of her and strangling her to the point where she could not breathe.

The victim’s cry for help alerted her mother, who intervened. As she confronted the suspect, he apologized before fleeing the scene. While escaping, he dropped a kitchen knife on the street and left his shoes inside the home.

According to police, the victim suspected her 14-year-old daughter was involved in the attack. The daughter was described as a “problem child” with a juvenile record who had issues following house rules and was upset about having her phone confiscated as a form of discipline.

Investigators soon confirmed the mother’s suspicions. Surveillance footage and interviews revealed that the 17-year-old suspect was the girl’s boyfriend, whom she had met online. The pair devised a plan to kill the girl’s mother so they could have more freedom to be together.

Both teens are now facing serious charges and potential prison sentences. The 14-year-old girl has been charged with solicitation of murder and conspiracy to commit homicide. The solicitation charge could result in a life sentence, while the conspiracy charge carries a sentence ranging from 25 to 40 years.

The 17-year-old is charged with conspiracy to commit murder and assault with intent to murder. He is currently being held on a $2.5 million bond, while the 14-year-old’s bond is set at $1 million. Their names have not been released due to their ages.
