Erika Kirk Hints at Pregnancy Hope After Her Husband Charlie Kirk Was Shot Dead

Salt Lake City, UT – In her second in-depth interview since the assassination of her husband, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, Erika Kirk, 36, told Megyn Kelly that in the immediate aftermath of the September 10 shooting she was desperately praying she was already pregnant with their third child.

“We wanted to have four,” Erika told Kelly on SiriusXM’s The Megyn Kelly Show. “And I was praying to God that I was pregnant when he got murdered. I was like, ‘Oh goodness, that would be the ultimate blessing out of this catastrophe.’”

Charlie and Erika Kirk, who married in 2021, were parents to a 3-year-old daughter and a 1-year-old son. The couple had openly discussed expanding their family to four children, with Charlie frequently joking on his podcast about wanting “a starting five.”

“I was praying — both of us were — we were really excited to just expand our family,” Erika continued. “Now when I see young couples, I tell them, ‘Please, don’t put it off.’ Especially if you’re a young woman, don’t put it off. You can always have a career. You can always go back to work. You can never just go back to having children, and they grow so fast and so quickly.”

Charlie Kirk, 31, was shot and killed on September 10, while hosting his signature “Prove Me Wrong” table on the campus of Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah — the first stop of his nationwide “American Comeback Tour.”

Video from the event shows Kirk speaking to a crowd under a white pop-up tent when a single gunshot rings out. Kirk collapses instantly, struck in the side of the neck. He was pronounced dead.

President Donald Trump announced Kirk’s death on Truth Social that evening: “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us.”

After an intense 18-hour manhunt, authorities arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson. Robinson has been charged with aggravated murder and multiple related felonies. In late September, Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray announced prosecutors will seek the death penalty.

Erika Kirk was granted a protective order barring Robinson from any contact with her or the children.

“I just want young women to know — if your heart is telling you to start a family, do it,” she said, voice breaking. “Because you never know how much time you have.”

Charlie Kirk’s death at age 31 sent shockwaves through conservative circles and beyond. His organization, Turning Point USA, has continued operations under interim leadership, with a national day of remembrance scheduled for December 10 — what would have been his 32nd birthday.

Erika closed the interview with a message to her late husband: “I hope you’re proud of us, Charlie. We’re going to keep fighting, and we’re going to keep growing our family the way you always wanted.”
