Woman accused of killing her husband became pregnant in jail and delivered the inmate’s baby, leaving family members in shock

A 29-year-old Florida woman, Daisy Link, who became pregnant while incarcerated at a Miami jail, gave birth to a baby girl in June, but her family is still searching for answers about how the pregnancy occurred.

Link is currently facing charges of second-degree murder for killing her husband in 2022.

Last Christmas, she informed her family in a phone call that she became pregnant while an inmate at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

According to Link, the pregnancy was a result of a male inmate passing a glove with semen through an air conditioning vent.

Initially, she claimed she was sexually assaulted, but she later retracted this statement when speaking to her lawyer.

Her sister, Crystal Bareto, said that Link gave birth to the baby girl on June 19. “The baby was born June 19th, and 48 hours later, they handed the baby over to an inmate’s mother,” Bareto said. “We don’t even know if that’s the real family.”

The Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department is currently investigating the situation. Although the department previously stated there was no evidence of sexual assault, the investigation is ongoing.

Bareto expressed her frustration, suggesting that an external agency should investigate the jail, describing the entire situation as “absurd.”

She added, “We never really got the real, true story about what happened to her in there. And I feel like as time passed, the investigation and the story of what happened to my sister have been swept under the rug.”

Bareto also believes the agency is stalling the investigation because it could lead to disciplinary action against its employees, possibly resulting in firings.

Link’s legal troubles began when she allegedly shot her husband in the leg outside their Homestead home on June 25, 2022. A video shows Link telling her husband, “I think I hit a major artery; you’ll be fine,” before he later died.
