Utah man allegedly told friend he could ‘dodge a bullet’ then died after being shot

A tragic incident in Utah has left one man dead and his friend facing manslaughter charges after a misguided attempt to “dodge a bullet.”

On February 2, Dylan Treichel, 23, allegedly told his friend Ashton Jonathon Mann, also 23, that he could dodge a bullet. The two had been smoking marijuana and playing video games when their conversation shifted to firearms.

They moved to a detached garage where two handguns were stored. Believing the guns were unloaded, Mann aimed at Treichel, who tried to demonstrate his reflexes by dodging—an act he repeated six times. Unfortunately, one of the guns was not empty, and a shot was fired into Treichel’s chest.

Treichel, realizing he was hit, urged Mann to call for help. Mann immediately dialed 911 and attempted to assist his friend. When authorities arrived, they found Treichel unresponsive. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
