Trump admits he ‘hates’ one part of his own ‘Big Beautiful Bill’: ‘They are largely a giant SCAM’
President Donald Trump voiced strong opposition on Saturday to the inclusion of what he described as “green tax credits” in his signature legislative proposal for a second presidential term — a plan he has repeatedly promoted as his “BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL.”
Trump’s comments, made on his social media platform Truth Social, have sparked confusion as observers try to determine precisely which provisions of the legislation he was criticizing.
In a post over the weekend, Trump expressed frustration with these green initiatives, labeling them a waste of resources. “I HATE ‘GREEN TAX CREDITS’ IN THE GREAT, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL,” he wrote in capital letters, emphasizing his disapproval. “They are largely a giant SCAM.”
The president continued his critique by targeting specific forms of renewable energy, particularly wind power. “I would much prefer that this money be used somewhere else, including reductions. ‘Anywhere’ would be preferable!” Trump declared.
“Windmills, and the rest of this ‘JUNK,’ are the most expensive and inefficient energy in the world, is destroying the beauty of the environment, and is 10 times more costly than any other energy.”
Trump further argued that renewable energy technologies are heavily reliant on government subsidies, asserting that this dependence undermines their viability. “None of it works without massive government subsidy (energy should NOT NEED SUBSIDY!),” he wrote.
He also claimed that much of the technology is produced abroad. “Also, it is almost exclusively made in China!!! It is time to break away, finally, from this craziness!!!”
While Trump’s post clearly conveyed his disdain for green tax incentives, it remained unclear exactly which elements of his own legislative package he was denouncing.
Reports have indicated that among the provisions of the bill are tax credits for homeowners who install rooftop solar panels, with eligibility extending for up to 180 days following the bill’s passage.

Big, Beautiful Betrayal in the Senate
The bill, which had been a cornerstone of Donald Trump’s second-term legislative agenda, ultimately failed to advance in the Senate after facing significant procedural and political hurdles.
Despite strong backing from Trump’s loyal base and select Republican lawmakers, the sweeping package—which included tax cuts, infrastructure spending, immigration reforms, and green energy provisions—ran afoul of the chamber’s rules.
The Senate parliamentarian ruled that several key sections, including controversial tax credits and funding mechanisms, violated budget reconciliation guidelines and would require 60 votes to proceed.
This ruling effectively derailed efforts to pass the legislation through a simple majority, dealing a blow to Republican hopes of bypassing Democratic support.
In addition to procedural setbacks, the bill sparked deep divisions within the GOP itself, with some senators expressing concerns about its cost, scope, and inclusion of green energy incentives that Trump later denounced as a “giant scam.”
