Teen accused of rape apprehended, found with mask and gloves on his way to murder his ex-girlfriend

18-year-old Matthew Robert Austin from Oklahoma has been arrested after police discovered he was planning to harm his ex-girlfriend and her mother.

This arrest comes while Austin is already facing charges for the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl.

The new charges were brought after Austin’s friends informed the authorities that he had been discussing his intentions to harm his ex-girlfriend and her family, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

On July 18, deputies from the Norman Police Department arrested Austin near his ex-girlfriend’s home. At the time of his arrest, Austin was found carrying a Home Depot bag containing latex gloves and a painter’s mask.

During questioning, Austin admitted to threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend and her family. He also revealed to the officers that he was under investigation by the Moore Police Department for a separate case involving the alleged rape of a different 14-year-old girl.

The mother of the 14-year-old girl, referred to as “TL” in the documents, contacted the Moore Police Department on July 14 to report that her daughter had been raped by Austin. The mother provided police with text messages exchanged between her daughter and Austin.

The messages revealed that Austin had initially told TL he was 16 years old, even though he was actually 18 at the time, according to the affidavit.

TL informed police that she met Austin through church and later exchanged phone numbers with him at a restaurant where he worked. She stated that Austin visited her home in July and forcibly raped her.

After the assault, Austin told TL to keep their encounter a secret, assuring her that everything would be fine because of their age difference. He also allegedly mentioned that he had done this before, trying to reassure TL that everything would be okay.

TL was later assessed by a sexual assault nurse examiner at a local hospital. During this time, she confronted Austin about his social media profiles, which indicated that he was 18 years old, contradicting his earlier claim of being 16.

Further investigation revealed that Austin had described to witnesses how he planned to kill his ex-girlfriend and her mother. He told them that his ex was “messing with his life” and that he would “just stab them so they would not scream.”

The witnesses, alarmed by Austin’s statements, contacted the Norman Police, who quickly apprehended him.

When police initially found Austin with the gloves and mask, he claimed he was going to “paint his room or something along those lines.” However, the authorities praised the witnesses who reported Austin’s intentions, suggesting that their actions may have prevented a serious crime.

Austin has been charged with second-degree rape as of August 2, with bond set at $400,000. Additionally, he faces charges for planning acts of violence and possession of marijuana, with bond set at $25,000 for the former charge.
