‘Shut Up, B*tch’: Bill Maher Throws Karoline Leavitt Under the Bus Over Her Absurd Defense of Trump

Los Angeles, CA – Bill Maher closed Friday night’s Real Time with a brutal, no-holds-barred takedown of White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s defense of President Donald Trump calling a female Bloomberg reporter “Quiet, piggy!” — and he did it by using Leavitt’s own words against her.

The segment began with Maher replaying the now-infamous November 14 exchange aboard Air Force One.

A Bloomberg reporter asked Trump about the looming December 18 release of the full Jeffrey Epstein files — the same files Congress forced him to accept with a veto-proof 427–1 House vote and unanimous Senate consent. Trump, visibly irritated, pointed in the reporter’s face and snapped:

Trump:“Quiet, Quiet piggy!”

The clip has been viewed more than 42 million times, with the phrase instantly becoming one of the most viral soundbites of the second term.

At the next day’s White House briefing, Leavitt was asked if the president regretted the remark. Instead of walking it back, she doubled down:

“The president is very frank and honest with the press corps. He says what he means, and he means what he says. That kind of openness is actually respectful — the American people elected him to be real, not scripted,” she said.

Maher let the quote hang in the air for a beat, then turned to the camera with a deadpan stare.

“Trump is very touchy about the Epstein thing,” he began. “Shocker. And then, listen to this. At the press conference the next day, his press secretary — Karoline Leavitt, 28 going on Gestapo Barbie — spun this by saying it’s actually admirable. She said it’s the president being frank and open and honest, that’s good!”

The studio audience started laughing in anticipation.

Maher leaned in, shrugged, and delivered the punchline:

“Well, in that case… shut up, bitch.”

The place exploded. Cheers, gasps, standing ovation — the full HBO chaos treatment.

Maher let the applause die down, then added:

“See? I’m just being frank and open and honest. That’s respectful! According to Karoline’s logic, she should be thanking me right now for the transparency.”

He wasn’t done.

“Seriously, if calling a female reporter ‘piggy’ to her face is now considered presidential candor, then I’ve got a whole new monologue style to try out. But somehow I think the Secret Service might have notes.”

The bit instantly went viral, with the clip racking up millions of views on YouTube and X in under 24 hours. Top comment on X: “Bill just used the Leavitt Defense and the world will never be the same.”

White House reaction was swift but muted. Leavitt posted on X Saturday morning: “Another unhinged Hollywood elitist who hates strong women telling the truth. Sad!” — carefully avoiding any mention of Maher’s actual punchline.

The “Quiet, piggy!” incident remains one of the defining, uh, frankest moments of the second term so far, and thanks to Bill Maher, it now has its own official rebuttal.
