Shock erupts everywhere after Trump says it’s ‘OK’ for Madammi to call him a ‘fascist’ to his face

New York, NY – In a moment that instantly rocketed to the top of every platform, President Donald Trump on Friday told incoming New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) that it was perfectly “OK” for the self-described democratic socialist — who has repeatedly called Trump a “fascist” and “despot” — to say it directly to his face.

The exchange happened during a photo-op in the Oval Office that Trump himself had hyped for days as a “big meeting” with the man he once threatened to financially choke if he ever became mayor.

A New York Post reporter asked Mamdani point-blank: “Do you stand by your previous statements that President Trump is a despot who has betrayed the country and is pushing a fascist agenda?”

Mamdani began a diplomatic answer about “shared purpose” and “serving New Yorkers,” but before he could finish, Trump interrupted with a grin.

“I’ve been called much worse than a despot,” Trump said. “So it’s not that insulting.”

Then a second reporter followed up: “Mr. Mayor-elect, do you still consider the president a fascist?”

Mamdani started to deflect again, but Trump cut in, patted his arm, and said:

“That’s OK, you can just say yes. It’s easier than explaining it. I don’t mind.”

Mamdani smiled, shrugged, and replied simply: “OK.”

Trump laughed, gave Mamdani another friendly pat, and said: “See? We’re getting along great.”

The 22-second clip has been viewed more than 78 million times across platforms in under 24 hours, with reactions ranging from stunned disbelief to outright celebration.

Top comments on X: “I have to admit, I was saying that trump would be charmed by zohran but I really could not have anticipated him patting him on the arm and going “it’s okay sweetie, you can call me a fascist if you want to,” a user wrote.

“Trump just folded and slobbered all over Mamdani. He talked a big talk on social media but in person he was patting him on the back and complimenting him. Interesting!,” another wrote.

“Did Trump just green-light being called a fascist to his face and laugh about it? I need to lie down.” “This is the most New York interaction ever. Two guys who hate each other’s guts just went full ‘fuhgeddaboudit.” “He really said ‘say it to my face, I don’t care’ and MEANT it. I’m deceased.”

The moment is especially surreal given Trump’s history with Mamdani. During the campaign, Trump repeatedly attacked the 34-year-old democratic socialist, called him “a radical Muslim Marxist,” and threatened to withhold all federal funding from New York City if he won. Mamdani fired back by labeling Trump “a fascist who wants to turn America into a dictatorship.”

Yet Friday’s Oval Office footage showed the two men smiling, shaking hands, and even exchanging compliments about “working together for the city.”

Trump later posted on Truth Social: “Great meeting with Mayor-elect @ZohranMamdani — very smart guy, we’re going to do BIG things for New York!”

Mamdani responded on X with a single raised-eyebrow emoji and the words “Interesting day.”
