‘Psychologist’ forces 15-year-old girl into hotel room to be abused by two adult men after making friends with her

45-year-old Maria Ximena Duarte, a self-described “psychologist,” is facing serious charges in Miami-Dade, Florida, for attempting to force a 15-year-old girl into sexual relations with two adult men.

Duarte has been charged with human trafficking of a child, lewd and lascivious exhibition on a child under 16, lewd and lascivious battery and interference with custody.

According to arrest documents, the girl initially met Duarte while walking her dog to a hotel pool area. Duarte quickly gained the teenager’s trust by presenting herself as a psychologist and sharing personal experiences. However, Duarte offered the girl marijuana and alcohol, which the teen declined, though she spent time with Duarte at the hotel.

On a subsequent day, Duarte took pictures of the girl and sent them to a man, falsely claiming that the girl was 21 and willing to engage in sexual activity. The man came shortly after. When the girl refused, stating, “she was not like that,” Duarte persisted.

The affidavit claims that Duarte had sex with the man in front of the girl and encouraged her to record the act, stating she was “teaching” her.

That’s not all, Duarte’s boyfriend later arrived at the hotel room, and Duarte attempted to leave the girl alone with him. Despite the girl’s discomfort, Duarte forced her back into the room and told her to “make the man feel good.”

The girl, alone in the room, went into the bathroom and started playing on her phone. She later stepped out to find Duarte’s boyfriend with his penis exposed, pleasuring himself and “inviting the victim to have sex with him,” according to documents.

She refused, but according to the affidavit, Duarte’s boyfriend then raped her.

The documents reveal that the girl, in her time in the room, overheard Duarte mention exchanging sex for drugs to “satisfy her addiction.”

In interviews with police, Duarte was described as “belligerent and uncooperative,” appearing to be under the influence of drugs, which led detectives to determine that an interview could not be conducted at that time.
