Mother of 4 Ambushes Another Mother of 4 After Bar Fight

24-year-old Chante Bertha Mark, from New Orleans, is facing a second-degree murder charge after allegedly targeting a group of women in a shooting that left 29-year-old Raven Francis dead and several others wounded.

The violence unfolded on Sunday, Sept. 1, in New Orleans, reportedly as payback for a bar fight that occurred earlier that same night, according to Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office records.

Mark is accused of following Francis and the other women after a physical altercation outside the Shamrock bar. According to law enforcement, Mark left the scene briefly but returned with a handgun and used it to strike another woman “multiple times” before leaving in a white Nissan Altima.

Mark didn’t drive far as she later switched to a black SUV, waited and followed the victims’ car as it left the area. She shot at the victims’ car multiple times, which caused it to crash, and flip after hitting a fire hydrant.

Four victims were treated as a result of the injuries sustained from the crash, and they survived, per family members. However, Francis succumbed to her injuries in the hospital shortly after.

Both Mark and Francis were mothers of four children.

Francis’ mother set up a GoFundMe to raise funds for her funeral and the care of her children, emphasizing that her daughter was not involved in the fight that led to the shooting.

Mark was arrested at a hotel in Chalmette on Sept. 4 and later transferred to Orleans Parish. She had been previously arrested for murder in 2023 in connection to the death of her ex-boyfriend, but charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence.
