Mom caught on camera ‘screaming’ and beating the living daylight out of her infant son while dad recorded

An Ohio mother, Haley Marie Ryan, has been arrested after a viral video surfaced on social media, showing her engaging in severe child abuse. The 21-year-old is facing one count of child endangerment, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

The video, which has sparked widespread outrage, depicts a woman “screaming at and repeatedly hitting” what is believed to be her infant son, who is less than a year old.

The footage shows the woman leaning over a crib, shrieking at the baby and then seemingly hitting him multiple times.

Although the video is blurry and chaotic, it has been widely shared across platforms like YouTube and TikTok, where it quickly garnered attention and led to numerous complaints to authorities.

Ryan was arrested on Wednesday after law enforcement received multiple reports about the video. She was initially booked into jail with formal charges pending, but at least one charge of child endangerment has since been filed against her, with the possibility of additional charges.

“Disturbing is the only word that is probably appropriate,” said Chief Deputy Matt Haines of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. He noted that the video went viral “for all the wrong reasons” and that the sheriff’s office received calls from concerned individuals as far away as Texas.

The incident took place at the child’s father’s apartment in Harrison Township, a small municipality in the Cincinnati metro area, a few days before the video was posted online.

The father, who was behind the camera recording the incident, is also under investigation to determine if additional charges are warranted, particularly for failing to intervene or report the abuse.

The child has been placed in the custody of Montgomery County Children’s Services and is now safe, authorities confirmed.

Ryan is currently being held in the Montgomery County Jail on $25,000 bail. She is scheduled to appear in court on August 21.
