Marjorie Taylor Greene is officially now a MAGA outcast
Washington, D.C. – In a public disavowal of one of his most vocal MAGA allies, President Donald Trump on Friday, labeled Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) “‘Wacky’ Marjorie” and said he would endorse a challenger against her in the 2026 midterms “if the right person runs,” per a Truth Social post.
The dismissal of the three-term congresswoman, once the epitome of MAGA fervor—donning a red cap at President Joe Biden’s 2024 State of the Union address and acting as a conduit between Trump and GOP lawmakers—marks the culmination of months of simmering tensions, as Greene has increasingly broken ranks on issues from the government shutdown to foreign policy.
Trump’s post read, “Marjorie Taylor Greene has gone Far Left, all I see from her is COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN! She has lost her way. I hear she is upset that I don’t return her phone calls, which I don’t. I can’t take a ranting Lunatic’s call every day. Marjorie, you have lost a wonderful conservative reputation, and if the right person runs against you in Georgia, I will endorse. Bad things happen!”
Greene responded on X that Trump had “attacked me and lied about me.” She posted a screenshot of a text she said she sent him earlier on Friday urging him to release the Jeffrey Epstein files, claiming that message “is what sent him over the edge.”
She called it “astonishing how hard he’s fighting to stop the Epstein files from coming out that he actually goes to this level,” she pointed to next week’s U.S. House vote on releasing the files.
Greene said she had supported Trump “with too much of my precious time, too much of my own money,” and fought for him even when “almost all other Republicans turned their back and denounced him,” but added: “I don’t worship or serve Donald Trump.”
President Trump just attacked me and lied about me. I haven’t called him at all, but I did send these text messages today. Apparently this is what sent him over the edge.
The Epstein files.

Greene’s November 10, X post criticized Trump’s focus on foreign leaders during a White House meeting with Amad al-Sharaa, president of Syria’s interim government. Greene called al-Sharaa a “former Al Qaeda terrorist wanted by our government,” noting the date’s 250th anniversary of the U.S. Marine Corps.
“He rose to power in Dec 2024, sanctions were lifted off Syria in June, and many Christians and minority groups have been killed before and after sanctions were lifted,” she wrote.
She added: “I would really like to see nonstop meetings at the WH on domestic policy not foreign policy and foreign country’s leaders. Start by hauling in the health insurance company’s executives and let’s start formulating our Republican plan to save America from Obamacare and ACA tax credits that have skyrocketed the cost of health insurance.”
Earlier on November 10, Trump addressed Greene’s post during an Oval Office meeting with reporters: “I don’t know what happened to Marjorie. She’s a nice woman, but I don’t know what’s happened. She’s lost her way, I think. But I have to view the presidency as a worldwide situation, not locally.”
Responding to CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, he said, “I mean, we could have a world that’s on fire where wars come to our shores very easily if you had a bad president. We had a horrible president, and we ended up with Russia/Ukraine.”
Timeline of the Fracturing Alliance
The rift has built over months. In May, Greene announced she wouldn’t run for Senate against Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA), attacking GOP donors and consultants who doubted her viability.
In June, she publicly sided with Tucker Carlson after Trump called the commentator “kooky” in a dispute between MAGA and national security hardliners over possible U.S. regime change efforts in Iran.
On June 22, Greene slammed Trump’s bombing of three Iranian nuclear sites: “I’m sick of funding foreign aid and foreign countries and foreign everything. I want to fund American interests and issues.” Greene also admitted in June that she “didn’t read” Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act and criticized a provision limiting states’ rights to regulate AI for a decade.
On October 8, she urged Speaker
Mike Johnson (R-LA) to reconvene the House for ACA subsidy extensions expiring December 31, telling CNN: “This cliff is coming for millions and millions of Americans where their health insurance premiums are about to skyrocket, so put your money where your mouth is.”
On October 29, on The View, Greene denounced QAnon (a theory she once promoted), criticized Johnson’s leadership, and reiterated demands for full Epstein file release.
The View co-host Sunny Hostin said, “I feel like I’m sitting next to a completely different Marjorie Taylor Greene.” Joy Behar added, “Maybe you should become a Democrat, Marjorie.” Greene replied, “I’m not a Democrat. I think both parties have failed.”
Greene has also been publicly critical of the Trump administration’s refusal to release Epstein files. Former Trump advisor Steve Bannon told NBC News in 2023 that Greene once aspired to be Trump’s 2024 running mate.

In a November 5, video, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) alleged Greene is on a “revenge tour” after Trump blocked her Georgia Senate run.
“She wanted to run for Senate earlier this year in the state of Georgia, she wanted to be the Republican nominee for Senate. So, she was gearing up for that statewide race, and Trump told her no. And the White House and Trump Land shut down Marjorie Taylor Greene’s personal ambitions to run for Senate, and she has been on a revenge tour ever since.”
