Man chased down his 75-year-old mom on foot, dragged her back inside and fatally stabbed her

A man in Ohio is facing serious charges after allegedly stabbing both of his parents at their home following an argument over his request to stay the night.

The 40-year-old suspect, Kenneth Mortimer, is accused of attacking his 75-year-old mother, Barbara Mortimer, and his father after his mother denied his request and asked his father to call for psychiatric help.

Authorities say that the incident took a deadly turn when Kenneth Mortimer, after being told he couldn’t stay, grabbed a kitchen knife and assaulted his parents while they were sitting on the couch.

Barbara Mortimer attempted to escape by running out the front door, but her son chased her down, dragged her back inside and continued the brutal attack, stabbing her multiple times. Tragically, she did not survive.

Mortimer’s father, who also sustained serious injuries in the attack, was rushed to UC Hospital by emergency responders and is expected to recover.

The Green Township Police Department reported that officers, along with paramedics, were dispatched to the Palmhill Lane residence just before 4 p.m. on Friday after receiving a call about a stabbing.

Upon arrival, they found both victims suffering from multiple stab wounds. The suspect had already fled the scene by the time officers arrived.

Following a search, police located Kenneth Mortimer in Cincinnati. Authorities say he confessed to stabbing his parents when they apprehended him. Mortimer is currently being held in the Hamilton County Jail, facing charges of murder, attempted murder and felonious assault.

A court hearing for Kenneth Mortimer is scheduled for August 20, where he will face the charges stemming from the deadly confrontation with his parents.
