33-week-old pregnant wife watches husband die ‘in her hands’ after confronting vandals at their home

A 33-week-old pregnant woman in Texas is grieving the loss of her 37-year-old husband, Osvaldo Casas, who was shot and killed by vandals targeting the family’s car. The tragic incident occurred on Saturday, August 10, when Casas confronted the suspects in their vehicle.

The Houston Police Department confirmed a fatal shooting on Loper Street around 12:30 a.m. on August 10, though they did not initially confirm Casas as the victim. “It is believed the male confronted a suspicious person on his street prior to being shot,” the police stated.

Officers arrived at the scene to find an unresponsive man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Casas’ wife, Judith Molina, shared her heartbreaking attempt to save her husband’s life.

“I did CPR for maybe like 10 minutes until the police arrived, and they took over, but by that time I already knew he was gone,” Molina tearfully recounted. “I knew he was gone.”

Security footage appears to show Casas running down the street moments before gunshots rang out. The video then shows Casas running slowly back towards his home, where he collapsed into his wife’s arms. “She tried to give him CPR, and he died in her hands,” a family member said.

Molina, who is expecting a baby boy any day now, shared that Casas was eagerly anticipating the birth of their son. “He was so excited about our baby boy, due any day now,” she said.

The investigation into Casas’ death is ongoing, but police have not yet identified any suspects.

The family, however, suspects that the perpetrators might be connected to an earlier incident in which someone threw eggs and flour at their car. A black vehicle, possibly a truck or SUV, was seen in the area on the night of Casas’ death and is believed to be linked to the crime.

The tragic incident has left a community in mourning and a family struggling to cope with the loss of a husband and father, with the added heartache of an unborn child who will never know his father.

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support Casas’ family. The page describes Osvaldo as “a man of deep love and kindness” who was beloved in his community and always ready to help others.

It also notes his passion for the Dallas Cowboys and how he was looking forward to watching the first game of the season.
