Ex-girlfriend stabs new girlfriend as boyfriend was busy telling his mom ‘he had the situation under control’

A Florida woman faces serious charges after allegedly attacking her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend, stabbing her in the chest with a pocket knife after showing up unannounced at his home.

Emily Morales, 19, was arrested last week and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to officials.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on July 31, 2024.

Deputies and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to a residence in the 10000 block of Maderia Street in Spring Hill, about 80 miles west of Orlando, following a reported stabbing, per the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival, first responders discovered a 22-year-old woman with a stab wound. She was immediately taken to Bayonet Point Hospital in critical condition and underwent emergency surgery for two stab wounds.

The victim’s 26-year-old boyfriend recounted that they were in the kitchen at his mother’s home, where he also resides, when they heard a loud knock on the front door. He recognized Morales’s silhouette through the frosted glass.

Knowing that his mother would be upset to see Morales at her front door, he went to give her a heads-up, leaving the victim to answer the door.

While he was busy telling his mother “not to worry” and that he “had everything under control,” they both heard screaming and commotion, followed by the victim shouting, “This f—— dumb b—- stabbed me.”

The boyfriend and his mother, who rushed out to see what was happening, found Morales standing in the doorway, yelling irrationally and saw the victim bleeding. A trail of blood led from the front door to the living room.

Before Morales fled, she allegedly tried to stab the boyfriend but was unsuccessful.

Surveillance footage from a doorbell camera captured the altercation, showing a scuffle between the two women at the front door and later the victim collapsing in the living room, bleeding from her chest. Morales appeared to be holding a knife in the footage.

Deputies found Morales at her last known address and arrested her. Her family claimed she acted in “self-defense.”

In her statement to detectives, Morales said she and the victim’s boyfriend had a tumultuous relationship and had argued earlier that day. She claimed the boyfriend had threatened to have the victim “beat” her up. Seeking “closure,” she took an Uber to his home and saw the victim’s vehicle in the driveway, which eventually made her angry.

Morales admitted becoming verbally aggressive when the victim answered the door. When the victim squared up, Morales pulled a knife from her pocket and swung it, hitting the victim. She then fled through backyards, discarding the knife in an unknown location.
