Dad crashes daughter’s birthday to fatally shoot her mom in the face

A Texas man, Jalin J. Foreman, 27, is accused of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend, Jalen Whitlock, 25, in the face during a birthday party for one of their children.

The shooting took place in front of Whitlock’s children at her Houston home. Foreman is charged with murder, the Houston police announced on Sunday.

The tragic incident unfolded when Foreman showed up at Whitlock’s townhome on the evening of the party, allegedly seeking to give his daughter, who just turned 6, a birthday gift.

Whitlock had previously told him he was not allowed to come to the house. When Whitlock’s boyfriend of about a year answered the door, an argument broke out between him and Foreman. This dispute was fueled by a previous incident where Foreman had shot at Whitlock’s home.

According to the criminal complaint, Foreman began taunting Whitlock’s boyfriend, challenging him to fight. Foreman then returned to his truck parked outside while continuing to yell and making threats of shooting Whitlock and the boyfriend.

Fearing for their safety, Whitlock’s boyfriend went to retrieve a gun from the kitchen. As he returned to the front door, Foreman opened fire. The boyfriend responded by firing back, but in the chaos, Whitlock was struck. Whitlock’s boyfriend then noticed she had been shot and collapsed on the floor. He shut the door and told the children to go upstairs for safety.

A neighbor reported hearing Foreman yell threats, saying, “I’m not scared of you” and “I know where you live,” before firing at least five shots at the home. Another witness later saw Foreman holding a gun while driving away in a white Chevrolet Tahoe.

Foreman fled the scene after the shooting, but surveillance footage captured him leaving and later returning to the area. Witnesses also heard him make threats to “reload” and challenge Whitlock’s boyfriend to come outside and let’s “finish this.”
