Dad arrested for murder after chasing down and killing his 14-year-old daughter’s rapist

Aaron Spencer, a 36-year-old Arkansas man, was arrested for first-degree murder after fatally shooting Michael Fosler, a 67-year-old man who had allegedly stalked and raped Spencer’s 14-year-old daughter.

The incident occurred on October 8 after Spencer found his daughter with Fosler in a vehicle, leading to a confrontation.

Spencer’s wife, Heather, called the arrest unjust and “outrageous,” explaining that their daughter had been previously targeted, groomed and raped by Fosler. Although Fosler faced pending felony charges and a no-contact order, he violated it by continuing to contact the child while out on bond.

The couple reported their daughter missing after discovering she had left their home, prompting Spencer to search for her. After finding Fosler driving with their daughter, a chase ensued, which resulted in a collision.

Heather claimed her husband shot Fosler in self-defense after being attacked while trying to rescue their daughter. She defended her husband, calling him a hero who saved their daughter’s life. She emphasized that had her husband not intervened, their daughter may not have returned home alive.

“Spencer is a military veteran and a hero who acted in self-defense during the confrontation with Fosler,” said Heather.

Despite Spencer’s actions, authorities arrested him on murder charges. Lonoke County Sheriff John Staley called the case a “tragic situation” and emphasized that the decision to prosecute would be made by the county’s attorney office.

Staley clarified that Spencer’s arrest did not reflect support for the predator but was a necessary part of the investigative process.

“We’re in consultation with the prosecuting attorney about what to do in this preliminary stage,” Staley reportedly said. “All my deputies and investigators knew at that time is there’s a deceased man, a 14-year-old that was in the truck with him, and a dad saying ‘Hey, I stopped him for this.’”
