‘Can’t Take the Heat’: Jasmine Crockett Mocks Marjorie Taylor Greene for Quitting So Fast
Washington, D.C. – Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) wasted no time celebrating the political downfall of her longtime rival Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), calling the MAGA firebrand’s surprise resignation from Congress a capitulation to the “heat” of crossing President Donald Trump after just “one week” on his bad side.
In an interview on CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday, Crockett, 44, reacted to Greene’s November 21 announcement that she will step down from her Georgia 14th District seat effective January 5, 2026 — a week after Trump withdrew his endorsement and branded her a “ranting Lunatic” who has “gone Far Left.”
“Honestly, I was like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me,’” Crockett told host Jake Tapper. “You’re on the other side of the president for one week, and you can’t take the heat? Imagine what it is to sit in my shoes, to not only be on the opposite side of him, but to have people like her who are constantly fanning the flames of hate. And imagine what those threats look like when you literally are someone like me.”
Crockett, a former civil rights attorney, has been a frequent target of Greene’s vitriol since their infamous May 2024 House Oversight Committee clash, where Crockett delivered the viral “bleach blonde, bad-built, butch body” zinger at Greene after the Georgian commented on Crockett’s appearance.
The exchange, which Greene initiated by saying Crockett’s “fake eyelashes are messing with your reading,” drew immediate fiery reply from Crockett: “I’m just curious, just to better understand your ruling. If somebody on this committee starts talking about somebody’s bleach-blonde, bad-built butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?”
The moment catapulted Crockett to national fame, turning her into a Democratic star and Greene into a punchline.
Crockett’s first reaction to the resignation came on X on November 21: “I’m going to be honest … I didn’t see this coming but the threats that come with being on the opposite side of Trump ARE REAL! People need to wake up! Trump only knows how to use people up & then cast them aside when he’s done… he did it to his VP, he’s done it to those that wanted the Epstein files, he did it to those that believed he cared about their struggles, & now he’s doing it to one of his most loyal followers, MTG.”
She extended an olive branch: “My office reached out to MTG’s team to work on some member safety legislation. I’m serious about working collaboratively on this effort if there is an interest. We can get it drafted before January.”
Greene’s Resignation: “I Refuse to Be a ‘Battered Wife’”
Greene, 51, announced her departure in a 12-minute X video on November 21, a week after Trump’s November 14 Truth Social post: “I am withdrawing my support and Endorsement of ‘Congresswoman’ Marjorie Taylor Greene, of the Great State of Georgia… all I see ‘Wacky’ Marjorie do is COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN! … I can’t take a ranting Lunatic’s call every day.”
In the video, Greene said she refuses “to be a ‘battered wife’ hoping it all goes away and gets better.” She cited Trump’s “lost her way” comment after her November 10 criticism of his Syria meeting with Amad al-Sharaa on the Marine Corps’ 250th anniversary.
Greene labeled al-Sharaa a “former Al Qaeda terrorist”: “He rose to power in Dec 2024, sanctions were lifted off Syria in June, and many Christians and minority groups have been killed before and after sanctions were lifted. I would really like to see nonstop meetings at the WH on domestic policy not foreign policy and foreign country’s leaders. Start by hauling in the health insurance company’s executives and let’s start formulating our Republican plan to save America from Obamacare and ACA tax credits that have skyrocketed the cost of health insurance.”
