63-year-old Driver caught on camera pulling gun on two people before striking them in road rage incident

A road rage incident in Port St. Lucie, Florida, took a dangerous turn when a 63-year-old Mercedes Benz driver brandished a gun and struck two people in a caught-on-camera altercation, police said.

According to the Port St. Lucie Police Department, the driver, Paul Slane, was arrested and faces multiple charges following the incident, which occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The victims recounted to police that they had been driving behind Slane when he brake-checked them, coming to an abrupt stop in the middle of the road.

In an effort to avoid a confrontation, the victims quickly drove around Slane in their white pickup truck. However, Slane began tailing them aggressively, following them to their gated community.

Once there, Slane sped around the victims’ vehicle and brandished a handgun.

Cellphone footage recorded by the passenger in the pickup truck shows Slane exiting his black Mercedes and approaching their vehicle in a visibly agitated state, shouting and gesturing wildly.

As he neared the driver’s side, Slane lunged into the open window, seemingly attempting to grab the phone being used to record the encounter.

During the incident, police said Slane struck both the driver and the passenger of the pickup truck.

The interesting part is, the driver of the pickup was also armed with a gun, which he kept hidden between his legs as Slane approached. At one point, the driver can be heard in the video asking his passenger, “Should I shoot him?”

According to police, it remains unclear if the pickup driver ever revealed his weapon or if Slane was aware that the driver was armed. Fortunately, no shots were fired during the altercation.

After the confrontation, Slane fled the scene but was later apprehended by St. Lucie County Sheriff’s deputies. Police confirmed that they recovered the handgun used in the incident.
