‘Bitter’ fired employee who attempted to kill boss and targeted others, shot dead by neighbor

In a scene reminiscent of an action-packed thriller movie, a fired Las Vegas man sought revenge against his former employer, but the encounter ended fatally for him and left his ex-boss hospitalized.

The incident, which unfolded in a suburban area of Las Vegas, was partly captured on camera, showcasing a chaotic sequence that culminated in the man’s death.

The confrontation occurred at a home remodel site on Dover Place, near Cory Place and Charleston Road.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the fired man attempted to run over his ex-boss with an SUV after a heated altercation. Police received multiple 911 calls around 6:33 p.m. reporting the man’s aggressive attempts to hit a pedestrian with his vehicle.

Lt. Jason Johansson from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Unit stated that the fired employee had been dismissed earlier that day due to arriving at the job site “unfit to do his job.” Following a verbal exchange, the man got into his SUV and began targeting his former boss.

As police were en route, another 911 call reported a shooting. Officers discovered the dark-colored SUV crashed into a fence at the intersection of Cory Place and Dover Place, with the driver inside, dead from a gunshot wound.

Witnesses and home surveillance footage provided crucial details of the incident. The SUV driver had struck two people while driving erratically through streets and sidewalks. One person sustained minor injuries, while the ex-boss suffered severe but non-life-threatening injuries.

Steven Bowman, a local resident, recounted a narrow escape as the SUV plowed through the neighborhood. “I heard somebody say, ‘He’s coming back,’ and I couldn’t move,” Bowman said. Footage showed the SUV hitting the construction boss, knocking him into a wall. Bowman also narrowly avoided the vehicle by jumping over a wall.

The SUV’s destructive path through multiple yards and fences eventually led to its fatal encounter. Footage from the scene shows the driver reversing and hitting the construction boss before being shot. A man, identified as the grandson of neighbor Ana Tilley, fired three shotgun blasts at the oncoming vehicle after warning the driver to stop.

“He was hollering at him, ‘Stop! Stop!’ And the guy wouldn’t stop,” Tilley said. “I said, ‘Throw me the gun.’ No. He raised the gun, and I saw him and I thought, ‘Oh my god! Oh my god!’ He’s just gonna raise the gun. But he raised it. And the guy just kept coming at him.”

The shooter, whose name has not been released, was taken into custody but cooperated fully with police and was released the next morning. The identities of the deceased and his former boss have not been made public.
