1. You Need Understand Ownership Transfer

Why Transfer Ownership?

  • Delegation: When you need someone else to manage and control a document or folder.
  • Organization: Ensuring the right person maintains critical files, especially in team settings.
  • Continuity: When leaving a job or project, to ensure smooth transition and continued access.

Important Considerations:

  • Once you transfer ownership, you can no longer remove the file or folder or transfer it to someone else.
  • Only the new owner can transfer ownership further.
  • Ownership transfer is only available within the same organization or domain (if using Google Workspace).

2. Steps to Transfer Ownership In Google Drive

For Individual Files:

  1. Open Google Drive: Go to drive.google.com and sign in with your Google account.
  2. Select the File:
    • Right-click on the file you want to transfer ownership of and select “Share.”
    • Alternatively, click on the file and then click the share icon (a person with a plus sign) at the top right.
  3. Open Sharing Settings: In the sharing dialog, click on “Share with people and groups” if not already visible.

For Multiple Files:

    • With multiple files selected, right-click and choose “Share.”
    • Proceed as with individual files to transfer ownership.

Also, For Folders:

  1. Select the Folder:
    • Right-click on the folder you want to transfer ownership of and select “Share.”
    • Alternatively, click on the folder and then click the share icon.

For the New Owner:
