Dad betrayed by his best friend gets ‘justice’ for his daughter
A Russian dad took justice into his own hands when he forced his best friend who sexually abused his six-year-old daughter to dig his own grave in the woods before persuading him to kill himself.
According to authorities, 35-year-old Vyacheslav Matrosov acted outside the law when he confronted his friend Oleg Sviridov, 32, and made him kill himself after discovering footage of his young daughter being coerced into sexual acts.
“Oleg, that’s enough, I can’t take it anymore. I want to go home,” said the innocent child in a harrowing recording, but the vicious rapist kept going.
Upon seeing the footage and feeling betrayed by Sviridov, who was once a friend and babysitter to the family, Matrosov decided to confront him—but not in the usual way, authorities said.
Matrosov drove Sviridov into the woods and tortured him psychologically, forcing him to relive the horrors his daughter endured and even showing him footage of her begging him to stop. Authorities stated that, in the end, Matrosov told Sviridov that the only way he could be redeemed was either to end it all there or turn himself in.
Matrosov also told him that the path to redemption was a solitary one and that it would be better if all preparations were done by him. He then handed Sviridov a shovel and instructed him to dig (to find salvation), authorities said.
After he was done digging, Matrosov’s wife claimed that the rapist tried to stab her husband but ultimately ended up stabbing himself.
Matrosov then buried the body and took his former friend’s phone to the police but waited weeks before informing them of his death and the location of the body.
Initially, Matrosov faced murder charges, but further investigation revealed that Sviridov’s wounds were self-inflicted.
In 2022, Matrosov received an 18-month prison sentence, of which he served 12 months before being freed.
Public support in Russia surged for Matrosov after it was revealed that he had forced his daughter’s abuser to dig his own grave in the woods.
Upon his release, Matrosov shared a photo on social media with the caption: “Home. Love very much.”
The Krasnoglinsky Court in Samara convicted Matrosov of “inciting” Sviridov to suicide, sentencing him to 18 months in a strict-regime penal colony. If convicted of murder, Matrosov, a former rocket engine factory worker, could have faced up to 15 years in prison.
The case, which involved the killing of convicted pedophile Sviridov, drew international attention and garnered overwhelming support from the local community in Samara. Residents of Pribrezhnoye raised funds to cover Matrosov’s initial legal fees.
A petition with 2,500 signatures called for Matrosov’s acquittal, with locals praising him for “saving our children by ridding us of a child sex attacker.”
