Star Wars Andor Season 2 Scripts Finished, Won't Be Delayed by Writers' Strike

The entertainment industry is currently facing strike by the Writers Guild of America, leading to concerns about the impact on ongoing productions. However, Star Wars fans can breathe a sigh of relief, as it has been revealed that one upcoming project has dodged the bullet. Andor, the upcoming Star Wars series, managed to avoid being delayed by the strike thanks to the fact that scripts for the second season were finished before the strike began.

During a recent Q&A panel at a For Your Consideration (FYC) Emmy event for Andor, showrunner Tony Gilroy confirmed that the scripts for the upcoming season had been completed just two days ago. The series began production in November of 2022 and is expected to finish in August.

Star Wars Fans Rejoice: Andor Escapes Writers’ Strike Delay

The second season of Andor will focus on Cassian as he grows into the seasoned Rebel spy introduced in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The season will cover four years, jumping ahead every three episodes to the next year, leading to the days before Rogue One.

Gilroy has been the guiding hand behind Andor, writing every episode in both seasons of the series. Thanks to the scripts being completed prior to the strike, it is unlikely that production on Andor will be halted by the strike. As a result, the series could still meet its expected release date of August 2024.

While Andor has dodged the strike, it remains unclear what the impact of the strike will be on other Star Wars series and movies. Star Wars: Acolyte is expected to stay on schedule, as scripts for the series were also completed prior to the strike. However, the three upcoming announced movies remain a question mark. Rumors have been circulating that the script for the new movie starring Daisy Ridley had already been completed, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
