Kate Bush, the iconic British singer and songwriter has finally been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This was after four nomination rounds. In a statement posted on her website, Bush expressed her shock and gratitude at the news, saying “It’s something I just never thought would happen”. She added, “Thank you so much to everyone who voted for me. It means a great deal that you would think of me. It’s such a huge honour. Now as part of the initiation ceremony I get to find out about the secret handshake… there is one, right?”

This news comes alongside the announcement of other inductees for the class of 2023, which includes other renowned artists such as Rage Against the Machine, Missy Elliott, Sheryl Crow, George Michael, Willie Nelson, and the Spinners. The induction ceremony will take place on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Rage Against the Machine, one of the inductees, also released a statement expressing their appreciation for the recognition. They went on to discuss the political actions they’ve taken as a band over the past three decades, writing, “It is a surprising trajectory for us to be welcomed into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.”

For years, Kate Bush has been known for her reclusive nature. However, in recent years, she has become more vocal about her opinions on various topics. She’s expressed her gratitude for the licensing of her song “Running Up That Hill” in Stranger Things. Also, eulogized Robbie Coltrane and reflected on the Queen’s death last winter.
