Fox Drops 'Fantasy Island' for New Series - Viewers Demand Answers

Fox cancels Fantasy Island after two seasons, the network has announced. Despite being pleased with the show’s creative, Fox revealed the series didn’t gain strong traction among viewers. The reimagining of the classic series starred Roselyn Sánchez, Kiara Barnes and John Gabriel Rodriguez. It originally aired in the summer on Fox, with the second season currently airing as part of the network’s midseason schedule.

In the show, Roselyn Sánchez portrays Elena Roarke, a descendant of the original Mr. Roarke who runs the titular island that brings guests’ dreams and nightmares to life. The show features a wide range of guest stars with Season 2’s lineup including Cheryl Hines, Rachael Harris, Brett Butler, Teri Hatcher and James Denton.

Despite the cancellation of Fantasy Island, Fox has given straight-to-series orders to several projects, including live-action shows “Doc” and “Rescue: Hi-Surf” and animated shows “Krapopolis,” “Grimsburg” and “Universal Basic Guys/The Hoagie Bros.” The animated series “Krapopolis” has already been renewed for Season 3, while “Grimsburg” has been renewed for Season 2.

Fox also expressed its gratitude to Sony Pictures Television, the important partner that helped them produce the series. The network praised the cast, crew and executive producers Liz Craft, Sarah Fain and Anne Clements for their partnership on the show.

The cancellation of Fantasy Island comes as a surprise to many fans who had hoped for a third season. Nevertheless, fans of Roselyn Sánchez can still look forward to seeing her in other upcoming projects. The actress has already signed on to star in the upcoming movie “White Fang” and is also set to appear in the upcoming TV series “Grand Hotel.”
